I did Eagle Rock Loop on a whim during spring break of my senior year at Ole Miss. Three days, two nights in the Ozarks. About 27 miles total, nothing crazy on the elevation. Both nights I stealth camped off trail, bushwhacked until I found a good spot near water, and built fires. One morning it rained on me.
Before this trip, I never really saw the point of short hikes. I had always been the big-expedition guy. But Eagle Rock changed my mind about that. The Ozarks were a lot prettier than I expected, the water sources were solid, and the trail itself was easy, pleasant hiking. Sometimes three days in the woods is exactly what you need.
